THERAPY, TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA

Sarah Mediatore, LPCC-S

Sarah has been practicing therapy for 7 years. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. She is trained in EMDR therapy and is a certified trauma-informed yoga facilitator. Her clinical focus is in trauma, grief, and somatic healing.

“So much of what I teach people to do involves ‘coming down’ from their heads and more into their bodies. We spend so much time up there, mulling over things, worrying, living in our anxiety and negativity and miss the beauty of what’s in front of us. Walk-and-talk counseling in the woods is a perfect way to supplement this work and to help people learn how to get more in touch with their bodies and the healing that can happen from becoming more present with ourselves and the world around us. I want to help people experience the beauty of being fully with themselves as whole beings, instead of avoiding parts of themselves that feel too painful.”

Sarah is passionate about helping people see their innate value and healing through alternative therapies.

FOREST THERAPY

John Mediatore, LPC

John Mediatore holds a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland University and was trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy as a Forest Therapy Guide. He specializes in mood and anxiety disorders. “In a way I’ve practiced forest therapy all of my life. I grew up in a house surrounded by miles of woods, and I feel that wandering those trails as a child deeply shaped who I am. Growing up there gave me a deep appreciation for nature and its beauty.” John was drawn to forest therapy because he has experienced the healing power of the forest himself, and he has a passion for sharing it with others. John also holds a Ph.D. in literature from the University of Chicago. Among other clinical approaches that he draws on (including CBT, MBCT, and ACT), his literary background informs his interest in Narrative Therapy.
